This is more than a regular eco-friendly holiday home in East Sussex. The Grain Store’s luxury holiday accommodation offers supreme comfort in a stunning, modern setting - surrounded by the incredible scenery of the South Downs. This beautifully converted building is light and airy throughout, accentuating its original architectural features and high ceiling.

The space - a superb 145 square metres - boasts all the modern luxuries and attention to detail you’d expect for a good night’s sleep and memorable stay. You’ll find our blissfully comfortable Indigo king-size beds - complete with Hypnos mattresses, hypoallergenic wool duvets and pillows from Wool Room, and organic cotton sheets from Dip & Doze - make bedtime a dream. The fully-fitted kitchen will make cooking a pleasure, and, on cooler days, underfloor heating will give your toes a toasty treat.

There’s a minimum stay of 2 nights - perfect for weekend getaways from London, luxury corporate retreats, or even private dinner parties.

Check in from 4.00pm and check out by 10.00am (11.00am Sundays).

  • Exclusive hire of The Grain Store Lewes for six to eight people

  • Luxury toiletries in the bathrooms (body wash, shampoo, conditioner)

  • We can comfortably sleep six guests in one twin and two king bedrooms. Space for an additional two guests may be available to book in The Studio, which is adjacent to The Grain Store.

  • Due to insurance purposes, it’s important we know the names of all guests prior to arrival. We ask you to please inform us if any of the members of your party change or if you’d like to add additional members.

  • We want you to feel comfortable using and enjoying the space. So, we’re happy for you to have a small number of visitors for lunch / dinner or as a meeting place before a walk on the Downs. Please bear in mind that the maximum capacity is 10 people, inclusive of those staying over. You will be responsible for any damage incurred by visitors and visitors are not permitted to stay overnight.

  • For longer countryside escapes, we want to make sure you have optimum comfort. Stays longer than a week can ask for a mid-stay clean, contact Simone to find out more.

  • Simone (House Manager) will be able to assist during your stay - you can call or text her with any questions, queries, or concerns.

  • The Grain Store ground-floor has been designed with wheelchair access in mind. There’s a fully-accessible double bedroom with wet room and the large open-plan living / dining room and kitchen is spacious enough for wheelchair use. There’s easy access from the car parking area and throughout the ground floor. We can also provide a shower chair on request. Please note, the third bedroom and balcony on the mezzanine are only accessible via stairs.

  • As a family-friendly holiday home, we welcome children of all ages. We can provide a travel cot, cot bed, and highchair. Please indicate on booking if you would like these.

    Guests should be aware that the bedroom with two single beds is on the mezzanine level, up the flight of stairs - so it’s unsuitable for very young children.

    We can provide a stair gate for the bottom of the stairs on request.

  • So as to ensure a luxury experience for all guests we don’t accept dogs or any animals. We do of course accept assistance dogs. Please contact Simone ahead of your visit, to discuss.

  • There is good Wi-Fi at The Grain Store.

Standard payment and cancellation terms

Payment terms

We ask for a 25% deposit at the time of booking, with the remaining balance to be paid 8 weeks before arrival.

Cancellations must be sent by email. Notice periods, cancellation charges and administration fees apply as follows:

Admin fee: £65

    The Garden Studio at The Old Forge Open House

    Named one of the Guardian’s ‘Best Cosy Holiday Cabins 2020, The Studio at The Old Forge Open House is a small, stylish studio suitable for one or two people. It’s a great choice if you’ve booked The Grain Store and need nearby space for additional guests.

    Located in a wild garden, The Studio is perfectly placed in the South Downs for walks and cycling. Off-road parking, WiFi, and organic breakfast foods are available.
