Designed for living generously

Originally a working agricultural building, The Grain Store has been reimagined as a contemporary home where generous spaces, natural materials and thoughtful design create an atmosphere that feels calm, welcoming and easy to live in.

Every element of this unique retreat venue in Sussex has been carefully chosen and considered. Original architectural features sit alongside handcrafted furniture, quality materials and practical touches, creating a space that works just as beautifully for family holidays and celebrations as it does for business meetings and away days, workshops, filming and photoshoots.

Designed with intention

For creator Anni Townend, the vision for The Grain Store went beyond how the building looked. She wanted to create a place that feels good to be in, where people can slow down, connect and focus on what matters.

From the sense of space and natural light to the tactile materials, comfortable furniture and connection with the landscape, Anni’s philosophy runs through The Grain Store, creating a retreat that feels both special and completely at ease.

The kitchen, dining and living spaces flow together while creating distinct places to cook, eat, gather and unwind.

An oak dining table, handcrafted by Arthur Petherbridge, seats up to ten, making shared meals and long conversations part of the experience, while generous Maker & Son sofas invite you to settle in with a book, a board game or simply enjoy each other's company.

The fully equipped kitchen has everything needed for relaxed cooking, from simple breakfasts to celebratory dinners.

The mezzanine & terrace

Above the main living space, the mezzanine offers a quieter corner of the house.

Whether you're reading, catching up on work or simply enjoying a moment of quiet reflection, it's a comfortable place to escape to before rejoining your group.

A door opens onto the terrace, where there is comfortable seating overlooking the hot tub, the orchard and the South Downs, all inviting you to slow down and take in the surrounding landscape.

Three exquisitely designed bedrooms provide flexible accommodation for families, friends and small groups, making it the most sought-after luxury retreat venue in Sussex.

Need additional space? The Studio, a one-bedroom split-level and self-contained apartment next door, can also be booked, increasing capacity to eight guests.
